Protect filter housing from freezing.
Maximum operating pressure rating of 80 psi, if you suspect that your water pressure will at any time exceed 60 psi, a pressure regulator must be installed before the filter housing and be set at 50 psi or less.
The rubber o-ring provides a good grip between the cap and the sump. Please make sure that the o-ring be properly seated in the groove to avoid any leaks.

Installation was smooth. The wide diameter of the filter keeps it stable and straight when threading on the housing and I can see that it's lined up as well. Lining up a typical 10" filter is hit or miss. More surface area for filtration than I had previously with the double stacked 10" filters. One critique: the O-ring seemed to be slightly small in diameter and took a number of tries to seat it properly being lubricated.

I installed it with ease and "NO" leaks. I followed the advice of others and used both pipe putty and plumbers tape. When the water was turned on I opened every faucet in the home to flush the system and to be honest there is a significant drop in water pressure to the home, however with only 2 people living here it's a rare ocaison when more than one faucet on at any given time. The filter was a sediment filter. Perhaps that has an influence on the flow rate. I plan on increasing the regulator adjustments and have confidence the pressure will return to normal. Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase and would recommend Bluonics for anyone looking for a whole house filter. Many Thanks.
My original filter cases where blue but I ordered the semi-clear ones so I can monitor the filter condition without having to shut off, drain, and open the filter cases each time. I very much prefer the semi-clear cases over the solid blue ones.
I bought the 4.5 Big Blue Canister Filter as a prefilter for our water softener. I didnt install it for several months due to the construction of our home being delayed due to the pandemic. When I did finally install the device it had a leak at the presure relief valve used when changing filters. I contacted Bluonics and the person I spoke to, Leily, was very helpful and immediately sent out the replacement part I needed. I received the part in a few days and after replacing the part the leak was gone.
So even after close to six months after my purchase, Bluonics was there with great customer service.
Having tried another clear filter housing from another brand, I would often have issues with the threads of the sump cracking due to heat and chilling fluctuations. So far so good this one hasn't had any of the same issues as it has better designed threads.
Love being able to see the filter and the pressure relief button makes it easier to change the filter
